Ashlynne Villaca
Director, YCKC Rhapsody
Ashlynne Villaca (she/they) is a young and engaging choir director known for fostering a classroom environment that celebrates individuality, encourages independent musicianship, and makes space for both artistry and joyful expression. Committed to cultural responsiveness, Villaca thoughtfully programs repertoire that reflects a wide range of vocal traditions, helping students connect meaningfully with the music and with one another. Her approach inspires students not only to grow as musicians but to feel seen, heard, and valued every step of the way.
Ashlynne received her Bachelor’s in Music Education with a Minor in Ethnic and Gender Studies from Emporia State University, and she is currently pursuing her Master’s in Music Education at the University of Kansas. Villaca currently teaches 6-8 grade Choir at Piper Middle School in Kansas City, Kansas.
Outside of YCKC, she is a member of the William Baker Festival Singers alongside her husband Drew and enjoys painting and spending time with her cats Claude and Hildegard.
