Monday night rehearsals are held at First Lutheran Church (6400 State Line Rd, Mission Hills, KS 66208). Performance locations vary throughout the metro area.

Tuesday night rehearsals will be held in the south Kansas City area. Location TBD.

Is any special uniform/outfit/clothing needed for performances?

Students perform in a YCKC shirt included in your tuition. Families will provide black slacks and shoes. Replacement shirts can be purchased for $15. Secondary aged singers have additional formal performance attire costs.

What is the cost for participation? Are there extra costs beyond tuition?

Tuition is $550 for the season, tuition can be paid up front or by semester. There are occasional extra costs, such as tickets to sporting events where the Youth Chorus is singing the National Anthem or God Bless America. Students in Chorale or the Youth Chorus of Kansas City will also have a $65 formal attire fee. Regular season tuition covers the cost of sheet music, music literacy tools, and participation.

Do you offer financial assistance? How do I apply?

Yes, the Youth Chorus of Kansas City provides partial scholarship assistance based upon financial need. YCKC does not offer merit-based scholarships. To apply for a scholarship, please indicate interest during the audition sign-up process.

It looks like you have already had auditions. Can my child still join the group?

Yes, we schedule auditions at various times throughout the year. Contact us to inquire. Some ensembles can accept new singers on an ongoing basis, and others can only accept singers at the beginning of each semester.

What musical experience should my child have to participate?

Students in younger grades only need to demonstrate an ability to match pitch and a willingness to learn and enjoy working together in a group environment. Students auditioning for more advanced choirs should have a basic understanding of music literacy and/or some choral singing experience.

How is communication handled?

Communication is primarily handled through email and the remind.com text messaging system. We use the Choir Genius platform to communicate with and provide information to parents and singers.
