Audition information

YCKC Auditions are held by our expert staff, and our goal is to get to know your singer and their voice in a safe and supportive environment. YCKC is looking for enthusiastic, hard-working singers in grades K-12 from across the Kansas City metro to join our growing community! No prior musical training is necessary, but choral experience is helpful for singers in grades 6 and up.

No auditions are required for singers in grades K-5!

Process:

  • Auditions are held at our central rehearsal location, 6400 State Line Rd, Mission Hills, KS 66208

  • Auditions take 20-25 minutes

  • Solo auditions are held for singers in grades 8-12 and collegiate.

  • Group auditions are held for singers in grades 6-7

  • No audition is needed for singers in grades K-5.

  • A Credit card is required on file to reserve a time for an audition. A $50 fee is charged in the case of a no-show ONLY. Your card will not be charged in any other case.

Auditions include:

  • Vocal exercises led by our staff, including singing together and unaccompanied

  • Singing in a round

  • Prepare and sing “The Star Spangled Banner” unaccompanied

  • Basic sight-reading

Vocal Artists Auditions:

  • Prepare a vocal solo in a classical style

  • Sight-reading
